NENE VALLEY RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS CLUB

Rhythmic Gymnastics - Artistry in Motion

Rhythmic gymnasts combine grace and elegance with strength and skill.  Gymnasts perform to music using hoop, rope, ribbon, ball or clubs. Each routine requires the gymnast to execute a series of leaps, pivots and balances whilst keeping the apparatus in constant motion.

The coach choreographs routines with the gymnast who uses the apparatus and her body to interpret the music in her performance.

In Group routines the gymnasts perform together using collaborative work and dynamic throws and catches of the apparatus as well as the compulsory body elements.

The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) officially recognised rhythmic gymnastics in 1962 and in 1984 the individual all-around competition was added to the Olympic program with the group event being added in 1996.

London 2012 saw the first ever British Group entry and former NVRGC member Frankie Jones competed in the individual event and was Athlete of theGames at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014
