OUR CLUB
WELCOME TO NVRGC
Nene Valley Rhythmic Gymnastics Club was started in 1988 and has been providing gymnastics classes to girls in Wellingborough for over 30 years. We currently train at Lings Gymnastics Academy-Earls Barton, Redwell Leisure Centre-Wellingborough and Huxlowe Science College -Irthlingborough; our main recreation classes are held on Wednesday and Friday evenings & Saturday mornings with development and competition classes taking place on Monday, Saturday and Sunday.
NVRGC gymnasts have represented the club at County, Regional and National level in both group and individual competitions as well as taking part in our own Rose Cup - one of the biggest events of its kind in the UK.
Our club is led by High Performance Coach and International Brevet Judge Vicki Pearson, who is also Chair of the British Gymnastics Rhythmic Technical Committee, shaping the way Rhythmic is developed in the UK to benefit Recreational and Performance gymnasts. Vicki has judged all over the world at Commonwealth games, World Championships and the Olympics and it all started with gym classes at primary school!
All our coaches are fully qualified and insured and undertake regular training and development outside the gym. They are unpaid, with their own lives, families and full time jobs and so we are very lucky they give their time to the club for free to help gymnasts get the most from the sport we love - Without volunteers NVRGC would not exist - meet them on our TEAM page.
All of our classes are run by qualified British Gymnastics coaches, supported by a wonderful team of helpers. We cater for all ages from rising fives to school leavers and encourage gymnasts with a range of abilities to progressing enjoy their sport as their skills improve.
All gymnasts begin by learning the basics, developing hand eye co-ordination, building physical fitness and confidence while making new friends.
There are opportunities for gymnasts to gain BG proficiency badges and participate in displays and competitions depending on their ability which is assessed regularly by the coaches.
Once they are ready to start competing many of our younger gymnasts learn a free or hoop exercise, to be performed either as an individual or as part of a duet or group. Later they may progress to routines using approved rhythmic gymnastics apparatus such as Rope, Ball, Ribbon or Clubs depending on their level and age.
